At 7:48 a.m. on September 18, firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department and the Folsom Police Department, with assistance from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, responded to a structure fire in a residential home located on Gold Mine Court in Folsom due to a report of smoke coming from the garage of a residence. While en route to the fire, crews were updated that there was a possible victim trapped in the garage area of the home. Crews made access to the victim and removed the person from the building. The victim was transported for treatment and succumbed to their injuries. In the course of the rescue operation, two firefighters and one police officer sustained minor injuries.
