Communications dispatchers are often the first in line in emergency service response—the calming voice you hear when you are hurt, in danger, or need help fast. This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which honors the women and men who answer 9-1-1 emergency calls and dispatch police, fire, and paramedic personnel that provide life-saving assistance. In 2022, Folsom’s communications dispatchers handled 88,247 telephone calls and dispatched 53,017 events; and 99% of all 9-1-1 calls were answered in 15 seconds or less. Join us in honoring the “first” first responders who are on the frontlines of emergencies and ensure help is on the way when we need it the most.
