The 10th annual Community Service Day takes place Saturday, September 16.

 

Register to volunteer for the 2023 Folsom Community Service Day!

Community Service Day needs more than 1,500 volunteers to complete projects throughout the city.

The majority of the projects don’t require any special skills other than a willingness to pitch in where needed and a desire to make a positive and lasting impact in the community. Early registration is encouraged as project teams fill quickly. Register today to volunteer for the 2023 Community Service Day!

Community Service Day Volunteer Projects:

Neighbors Helping Seniors
Make a difference in your neighborhood with a simple act of kindness by lending a hand to our seniors! These are outdoor projects such as landscaping, weeding, gutter cleaning, or minor exterior home/fence repairs. Locations will be distributed at registration.
*Ages 10+.
 
Food Drive Collection Drivers and Helpers
Drivers and helpers will collect bags of food donations from neighborhoods throughout Folsom and bring them to the sorting location.
 
Beautifying Sutter Middle School Campus
Show your school pride and help beautify the Sutter Middle School landscape by weeding and spreading mulch. We need your help to distribute the mulch.
If you can, please bring shovels, rakes, garden tools, 5-gallon buckets & wheelbarrows to help carry mulch from the drop off point to the garden beds.
All ages; this is a great project for families to do together!

Beautifying Mangini Ranch Elementary School Campus

Show your school pride and help beautify the Mangini Ranch Elementary School landscape by weeding and spreading mulch. We need your help to distribute the mulch.
If you can, please bring shovels, rakes, garden tools, 5-gallon buckets & wheelbarrows to help carry mulch from the drop off point to the garden beds.
All ages; this is a great project for families to do together!

Lembi Pickleball Court Walkway Improvement
Improve the Lembi Park pickleball courts by removing river rock from the walkway and replacing it with gravel.
*Ages 16+.

Tree Pruning at the Duck Pond in the Parkway
Help the Friends of Folsom Parkways and the Sacramento Tree Foundation prune the trees surrounding the duck pond in the Parkway.
*Ages 18+.

Refresh Mulch for Journey Presbyterian Church
Help revitalize Journey Presbyterian Church by replacing the landscaping fabric and applying mulch around the property. Please bring gloves, shovels, rakes, and a wheelbarrow if you have one.
All ages; this is a great project for families to do together!

FULL! Beautifying Theodore Judah Elementary School Campus
Show your school pride and help beautify the Theodore Judah Elementary School landscape by weeding and spreading mulch. We need your help to distribute the mulch. If you can, please bring shovels, rakes, garden tools, 5-gallon buckets & wheelbarrows to help carry mulch from the drop off point to the garden beds.
All ages; this is a great project for families to do together!

FULL! Bike Trail Stenciling
Improve the safety of our community by spray painting stencils along our recreational trail system where a cul-de-sac intersects with the trail.

FULL! Black Miner’s Bar on Lake Natoma Cleanup
Clean up Folsom's Black Miner's Bar (formerly Negro Bar) to ensure that it continues to be a nice place for families to enjoy.
*Ages 15+ (15 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times).

FULL! BT Collins Disc Golf Course Improvements
Help improve the disc golf course by building a rock wall, spreading wood chips, digging holes, cementing in posts, and replacing turf tee surfaces.
*Ages 16+.

FULL! BT Collins Disc Golf Tee Box Makeover
Help improve BT Collins' new tee box for the first hole of the course. Volunteers should be prepared to cut, drill, nail, and screw lumber and deck boards.
*Ages 15+ (Under 14 must be accompanied by an adult).

FULL! Clean Up at Willow Springs Reservoir
Volunteers will gather at Willow Springs Reservoir (on Marsh Hawk Drive), near the entrance to the walking path. The goal of the day will be to remove as much fishing line, lures, and attendant waste both along the shoreline and along the water's edge. Some shallow wading along the water's edge will be helpful in order to scout the bottom for unseen hazards. Bring: sturdy garden gloves, hat, long sleeved shirt/sunscreen, waders, short or tall rubber boots (you must be stable enough to walk in mud/shallow water), grabbers, and sunglasses. Note: Do not block driveways while parking along street.
Ages 18+ only

FULL! Donation Drive
Assist in the donation drive booths that collect items such as bicycles, glasses, yarn and fabric, socks, Christmas gifts, and purses.
*Age 14 and under MUST have adult/parental supervision.

FULL! Donation Drive: Pet Supplies 
Assist in the donation drive booth that collects pet supplies, such as cat food, cat/dog toys, trash bags, blankets, and more.
*18+ / Adults only.

FULL! Donation Drive: Driver 
Assist in the Donation Drive by driving socks and letters to the Military CARE Packages packing site (1300 Veterans Way).
*18+ / Adults only.

FULL! Ernie Sheldon Ballfield Backstop Renovation
Help improve the Ernie Sheldon ballfields by painting two backstops.
*Ages 13+ (Under 12 must be accompanied by an adult).

FULL! Ernie Sheldon Youth Sports Park Shed Improvement
Help improve Ernie Sheldon Park by painting three storage sheds.
*Ages 13+ (Under 12 must be accompanied by an adult).

FULL! Folsom Police Mounted Patrol Improvements
Help our police department by fixing the fencing and shelter for the mounted patrol horses.
*Ages 18+.

FULL! Folsom Rail Trail Clean Up
Help clean up the Natoma Station trails and surrounding streets to ensure that it continues to be a nice place for families to enjoy.

FULL! Girls Love Mail
Hand-write letters of encouragement on any paper or note card that fits in our envelope from your own home! Once the letters are ready, they can then be mailed or dropped off at our offices in Folsom.

FULL! Hancock Drive Trailhead Improvements
Help clean up the Hancock Drive trailhead by digging, planting, pruning, mulching, and some fence repair and painting to ensure that it continues to be enjoyable for families.

FULL! Hancock Drive Trail Clean Up
Help clean up the trail between Hancock Drive and BT Collins Golf Course by trimming dead tree branches, removing dead trees/bushes, replacing falling rocks from wall, and cleaning up the piles of dead wood from last year’s Community Service Day.

FULL! Happy Smiles Toy Drive
Assist with the collection of toys for children in hospitals and deliver the toys to all hospitals around Folsom.

FULL! Lembi Park Railing Renovation
Help enhance the beautification of Lembi Park by painting the wood railing!
*Ages 15+ (Under 14 must be accompanied by an adult).

Lembi Pickleball Court Walkway Improvement

FULL! Library Cleaning
Help clean our library shelves and entryways. This project involves using household cleaning products.
Adults and teens 13+.

FULL! Military CARE Package Packing Party
Help show support for our military away from home. Set up and pack 500 to 800 care packages for deployed military.
*Ages 8+ (Ages 8-12 require adult supervision).

FULL! Military CARE Package Letter Writing
Send some love and support to our troops overseas! Write letters of gratitude to be included in care packages being sent to the U.S. military serving overseas.

FULL! Murer House Beautification
Help enhance the Murer House by adding mulch around the property.

FULL! Natoma Station Pond Platform
Help stain the Natoma Station Pond viewing platform that was built at last year's event.
*Ages 15+ (Ages under 18 must have parental supervision).

FULL! Parkway Trail Tree Care
Remove the old wire cages and tee posts that are still around the mitigation trees that were planted in the open space during the Parkway development.
*Ages 18+.

FULL! Project Support Team
Support team members will assist in visiting sites to take photos for social media/publicity and ensure volunteers are safe and have the supplies they need. Volunteers will need a car/be able to drive.

FULL! PSVRR Historic Railroad Superintendent House Clean Up
PSVRR needs assistance with cutting back trees and bushes around the grounds of the superintendent’s house.
*Ages 9+; please wear closed-toed shoes.

FULL! PSVRR Railfest Equipment Preparation
PSVRR needs your help to prepare train equipment for the 2023 Folsom Railroad Festival. Volunteers will help wash and clean the train equipment scheduled to be used during Railfest.
*Ages 9+; please wear closed-toed shoes, wear hearing and eye protection, and long pants if operating equipment.

FULL! Snowline Hospice Assistance
Assist the Snowline Hospice Thrift Store by cleaning, dusting, organizing, processing clothing, hanging clothing, and putting merchandise on shelves.

FULL! Solutions Desk 
Assist volunteers in signing up for projects/troubleshooting for their projects.
*Ages 18+.

FULL! Vitalant Blood Drive: Greeter
Greeter volunteers will assist in the blood donation drive by checking in donors, hand out materials, etc.
*Ages 18+.

FULL! Young Wo Cemetery Landscape Beautification
Improve the landscape at Young Wo Cemetery by planting flowers and plants along the cemetery entrance.
