Your water meter is typically located near one of your side property lines near the sidewalk in a concrete box. Help us maintain the water meter by keeping the meter box accessible to our crews by trimming shrubs and trees located near the meter box.

If you plan to add new shrubs or trees to your landscape, please avoid planting near your meter box. As trees and shrubs mature, the branches can affect the radio signal from the fixed network endpoint. Roots can cause problems with the underground water pipes. If you plan to add a retaining wall near the water meter, please contact the Water Meter Division at 916-461-6177 or watermeters@folsom.ca.us.

For meter installations, please email a copy of the City of Folsom building permit, issued by Community Development, to meterinstall@folsom.ca.us.

To apply for a temporary construction water meter, please submit the online application.

NOTE

• Before submitting your application, please review the Information for Applicants.
• Upon approval of the application, payment of the associated security deposit fee is required. Instructions for submitting your online payment will be provided with the approval notice.
• Applications are valid for 30 days. Payment must be received and meter installed within the 30 day timeframe.

The City offers the following Temporary Construction Meters:

Standard 2.5 inch hydrant meter: This is the most common hydrant meter and is sufficient for most uses. It is used with a hose shorter than 50 feet to fill water trucks, water buffaloes and elevated tanks. It can also be used with hoses over 50 feet in which a backflow must be installed after the meter, unless it is on a private fire hydrant that already has a backflow device installed upstream to the hydrant.

4 inch bolt on meter: This meter is used for bolting inline to flush or supply a water main and must have a backflow device installed by the contractor after the meter.
