Comment on future of E. Bidwell corridor at public open house

Post Date:11/07/2014

The public is invited to review and comment on the draft plan for the East Bidwell Street Complete Streets Corridor Study during an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Folsom Public Library, 411 Stafford St.

“This is an opportunity for the residents and business owners who rely on East Bidwell Street to help shape the future of this vital corridor,” says Mark Rackovan, Public Works Traffic Section Manager. “This study is a long-range planning effort to identify areas where the corridor can be made safer and more efficient for all modes of transportation.

“Whether you're interested in improving walking or bicycling access, or are a resident or merchant concerned about how the study may affect your home or business, we encourage you to come to the open house to give feedback on the various concepts that are being analyzed.”

East Bidwell Street bisects Folsom and provides a direct link between the Historic District and US Highway 50. The roadway also connects the Central Business District, Creekside medical facilities, Folsom Lake College, Broadstone and the Palladio.

The final plan, which will be completed in 2015, will serve as a guide for future development and transportation improvements.
