The City of Folsom provides a public sharps take-back program to help members of our community safely dispose of sharps. In California, it is against the law to put sharps in the trash. Sharps can be contaminated, and they can injure family members and workers who collect and sort trash and recyclables.
Sharps include lancets, hypodermic needles, syringes, and scalpel blades.
Folsom Fire Station 35 is the collection site for the city's Public Sharps Collection program.
- The containers may be dropped off ONLY if a Fire Department attendant is present to accept it.
- Sharps can only be accepted if they are sealed inside an approved sharps container, or unused, and in the originally sealed package.
- You can obtain free, approved sharps containers at the fire station.
