The Public Safety Citizen’s Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and Folsom residents. The Public Safety Citizen's Academy is also a required training program for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program.

The next Public Safety Citizen's Academy is tentatively scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings from March 1- April 19, 2023. 

A variety of topics are included in the Public Safety Citizen’s Academy curriculum:

  • Emergency Services
  • Use of Force
  • CSI
  • Identity Theft
  • Communications (Dispatch)
  • SWAT, Narcotics
  • Domestic Violence
  • K-9 and Mounted Patrol Demonstrations

The Public Safety Citizen's Academy will be held in person for 2023 and is open to interested residents age 21 or over. All applicants will undergo an initial background check.

Please print and complete the above application and bring to the Folsom Police Department, 46 Natoma Street, Folsom, CA 95630. Please note that a Folsom Police Department employee must witness your signature on the second page in order to accept your application for evaluation. 

Applications must be completed by Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 4 p.m.
