The Citizen’s Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and Folsom residents. The Citizen's Academy is also a required training program for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program.
The next Citizen's Academy will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings August 10 through October 12, 2022. Locations will vary between Folsom Police Department and Folsom Fire Department.
A variety of topics are included in the Citizen’s Academy curriculum:
- Emergency Services
- Use of Force
- Identity Theft
- Communications (Dispatch)
- SWAT, Narcotics
- Domestic Violence
- K-9 and Mounted Patrol Demonstrations
The Citizen's Academy will be held in person for 2022 and is open to interested residents age 21 or over. All applicants will undergo an initial background check.
2022 Citizen's Academy Application
Please complete and return the 2022 Citizen's Academy Application by 4 p.m. June 30, 2022. Applications will be considered in the order received. Class size is limited, please apply early to guarantee a seat in the Citizen's Academy.
Applicants who wish to be considered for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program must attend all classes for consideration.
Please return your completed application to the Folsom Police Department, 46 Natoma Street, Folsom, CA 95630. Please note the second page of the application must be witnessed by a Folsom Police Department employee.
