RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE

Post Date:10/06/2023 8:52 a.m.

Firefighters from Folsom Fire Department and El Dorado Hills Fire Department responded to a report of an unknown fire type at a residential structure yesterday afternoon. Upon their arrival, firefighters encountered a fire inside the laundry room of the home. Firefighters immediately began an offensive fire attack to prevent the spread of the fire into the remaining areas of the home. The fire was fully contained within 19 minutes of arrival. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway and ongoing. There were no injuries as a result of this fire.

There was one resident and two animals inside the home when they were alerted by smoke detectors. The resident safely evacuated prior to arrival of the engine company. One cat was rescued from the interior by fire crews, and the other was seen fleeing from the building.

Folsom Fire reminds everyone to ensure that every bedroom has a working smoke alarm. October is National Fire Prevention month and the time of year when residents are encouraged to change the batteries in all smoke and carbon dioxide alarms in their home.
