Folsom Pet Etiquette

Post Date:02/20/2024 8:45 a.m.

Impress your neighbors with your dog’s model behavior and show everyone how much you care for Folsom with your perfect pet etiquette. Follow these friendly tips from City of Folsom Animal Services to help keep Folsom clean and safe for everyone, including our furry friends.

  • Leash up for safety: City codes require that your dog always stays on a leash when not in your home or on your property. This is for the safety of your dog and others. Off-leash dogs may be distracted and run away from your home or into traffic.
  • Scoop that poop: Always pick up your dog’s waste and discard it in a garbage can or at one of the city’s convenient dog waste bag stations. Leaving pet waste on sidewalks, in shrub beds, or in open spaces is unsanitary and can negatively impact our ecosystem.
  • Trail manners: Follow city rules on the trails and keep your dog leashed and on the left side of you as you walk. Loose dogs may also try to interact with other dog or critters that might not be friendly. Help prevent accidental injuries or dog fights by keeping your dog on a leash while walking on trails and in your neighborhood.
