National Fair Housing Month

Post Date:04/11/2024 9:29 a.m.

April marks National Fair Housing Month, dedicated to ending housing discrimination and raising awareness of fair housing rights. This month also commemorates the passage of the federal Fair Housing Act in April 1968, established to eliminate discrimination in housing sales, rentals, and financing based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, and familial status.

To address any form of housing discrimination, the city's website offers many resources, including details on tenant and landlord rights and obligations, and guidance on fair housing matters. For more information on these resources, visit the Housing Resources page at www.folsom.ca.us/Housing.

Join us in supporting an end to housing discrimination:

  • Educate yourself about the housing protections under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Report any incidents of housing discrimination you encounter.
  • Share your support on social media with the hashtag #NationalFairHousingMonth.
