Docent-Guided Tours

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary offers docent-led tours for your class or group. Learn the unique histories of our animals and discover behind-the-scenes facts about the zoo sanctuary.

Docent-guided tours are a great way to educate students and to gain a deeper appreciation for the role of the zoo sanctuary in our community. Tours must be reserved at least 30 days in advance.

Things to Consider Before Your Visit

  • Please do not feed the animals. Our animals have specific diets and nutritional needs, and we request that you please not feed them.
  • Please do not tease the animals. For the welfare of our animals, we ask you not to tease, whistle, or yell at the animals at the zoo sanctuary. Please do not throw food or anything else into the animal exhibits.
  • Prohibited animals. In accordance with City of Folsom, General Administration Policy No. 110, only service animals are permitted on zoo sanctuary grounds; pets are prohibited. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) states that service animals are dogs or miniature horses individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.
  • Prohibited items. No bicycles, tricycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerskates, or rollerblades.
  • Photo and Video Policy. We encourage you to photograph or record video of any of the animals, but you must stay safely behind any barriers and remain in the public areas at all times. If you are a member of the media and would like further assistance to photograph or videotape animals at closer range, please email or call 916-461-6629.
