Sacramento County released a new Public Health Order that now allows certain businesses to reopen in accordance with state guidelines. Under the new Order, restaurants can allow indoor and outdoor dining, stores can have shoppers inside, and shopping malls may reopen.
Folsom Restaurants and Stores Can Reopen Today
Sacramento County released a new Public Health Order that now allows certain businesses to reopen in accordance with state guidelines. Under the new Order, restaurants can allow indoor and outdoor dining, stores can have shoppers inside, and shopping malls may reopen. The order coincides with the State of California's movement through the stages in its Resilience Roadmap.
The amended Order lists these businesses and activities as allowable with strict compliance with social distancing and other requirements.
- Full public transportation
- Dine-in at restaurants
- Pet grooming
- Car washes
- Retail
- Shopping malls
- Agricultural food and beverage cultivation, process and distribution open for retail by appointment only
- Plumbers, electricians, exterminators
- Arborists, landscapers, gardeners
- Small offices when telework is not possible
- Childcare, daycare, and family daycare
- Drive-in religious services
- Outdoor museums and outdoor art galleries
- Drive-through graduation ceremonies
Businesses that do not fall within the Health Order are prohibited from reopening at this time, including nail salons, tattoo parlors, gyms, and fitness studios. Gatherings are not permitted at this time.
Once Sacramento County business sectors approved for Stage 2 reopening have implemented the state's reopening requirements, they will be allowed to resume modified operations with strict social distancing, personal protective equipment and face covering as appropriate. Businesses are responsible for reviewing and understanding the guidance that has been provided, and they are required to post readiness checklists certifying their ability and commitment to reopen safely. The California Department of Public Health has prepared guidance and checklist documents to create safer environments for workers and customers.
Sacramento County is recommending CDPH guidance on the use of cloth face coverings whenever social distancing cannot be maintained indoors or outdoors. Face coverings should be worn when outdoors or in public places where social distancing of six feet or more cannot be achieved by persons from separate households. The best defense against COVID-19 continues to be:
- Staying at home and physical distancing
- Washing hands frequently
- Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Avoiding being around people with COVID-19 symptoms
While outdoor recreation is still allowed, a safe social distance of six feet from other people not in the same household must be maintained at all times. City parks and trails remain open to the public, and park restrooms will be open and accessible during operating hours. Folsom Public Library Curbside Pickup to Begin Tuesday
Beginning Tuesday, May 26, curbside library item pick-up and drop-off services will be available at the Folsom Public Library, Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only. Call 916-461-6137 or email libcirc@folsom.ca.us to schedule your pick-up or drop-off time. Outdoor book return boxes remain closed. Precautions are being taken for the safety of our staff and our patrons. All items available for checkout have not been used by another patron for a minimum of three days. Items returned will remain checked out on your account for at least three days. No fines are currently accruing on checked out items. Face Coverings Available for Folsom Businesses
The City of Folsom is distributing a limited supply of free face coverings to Folsom businesses to assist with their reopening efforts.
Beginning Saturday, May 23, businesses can pick up face coverings from the Folsom Public Library at 411 Stafford Street from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., by appointment only. Businesses must meet eligibility requirements, complete a registration form, and schedule a pick-up time. Face coverings will be distributed daily (excluding Memorial Day) to local businesses through May 31, as supplies last.
The face coverings were provided by the California Department of Public Health for businesses unable to obtain personal protective equipment. This onetime allocation is available as supply chains stabilize. Businesses will be asked to provide their Employer Identification Number (EIN) and attest that they have been unable to obtain face coverings directly from vendors and suppliers. Water Line Flushing Before Business Resumes
Businesses that are reopening after an extended shutdown should consider flushing plumbing fixtures of stagnant water before resuming normal operations. Stagnant or standing water has the potential to cause conditions that increase the risk for growth and spread of Legionella and other biofilm-associated bacteria.
The City of Folsom is deeply committed and stands ready to support our businesses during this challenging time. City Hall remains open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
