Folsom City Manager Evert Palmer today announced the appointment of Christine Brainerd as Communications Manager for the City of Folsom. Beginning Jan. 20, Brainerd will be responsible for managing a comprehensive communications program including news media relations, public information and advertising.

Brainerd comes to Folsom from the City of Elk Grove, where she has served as Public Affairs Manager for nearly nine years. Her duties included serving as the primary media spokesperson and managing Elk Grove's communications, marketing and community relations programs. She previously worked at two Sacramento public relations firms, was a writer for a weekly newspaper, and worked on the assignment desk at KTXL-TV FOX-40 News.

'Christine is a seasoned public relations professional with solid experience in local government communications,' says Palmer. 'She is also a Folsom resident who is knowledgeable about our community, and will be an outstanding addition to the City's leadership team.'

A communications graduate from California State University, Sacramento, Brainerd received an accreditation in public relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America, Universal Accreditation Board. She is a Northern California Director of the California Association of Public Information Officials, and is the recipient of numerous awards from regional, state and national professional organizations.

Brainerd lives in Folsom with her husband Sean, seven-year-old daughter Emily and five-year-old son Gavin.
