Water Wise Landscaping Project Requires Lane Closures

Post Date:06/08/2015

Folsom, CA ' Work begins today on a project that will convert 12 large Folsom medians with drought-tolerant, water-efficient landscaping, saving an estimated 1 million gallons of water annually when the project is complete.

Crews will remove turf, retrofit irrigation systems, and install drought-tolerant shrubs and bark on more than 62,000 square feet of medians. The work will require weekday lane closures near the medians between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., and may result in minor traffic delays. Lane closures and work activity will occur at:

' Iron Point Road between Folsom Boulevard and Black Diamond Drive, June 8 to June 16

' Natoma Station Drive between Blue Ravine Road and Turn Pike Drive, June 17 to June 24

' Iron Point Road between Prairie City Road and Grover Road, June 25 to July 3

In the last two weeks, the City of Folsom converted more than 12,000 square feet on 31 medians. All median retrofits will be completed by July 2.

Message signs will be installed to alert motorists of upcoming lane closures and work activity.
