Morin, Miklos Elected Folsom Mayor, Vice Mayor

The Folsom City Council elected Andy Morin as mayor and Steve Miklos as vice mayor during a Special City Council meeting on Dec. 8. They will serve one year terms effective immediately.

“I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve Folsom as a council member and mayor,” says Morin. “I thank the residents and my council colleagues for their support. I look forward to working with a team of over 400 dedicated city employees as we operate to meet the high standards and expectations of a proud community.”

Morin was first elected to the City Council in 2002 and served as mayor in 2006, 2007 and 2011, and as vice mayor in 2005 and 2010. A 27-year resident of Folsom, Morin also served on the Folsom Planning Commission and Folsom Public Library Foundation. He was also Chair of the Measure C School Bond Campaign and served on the Folsom Schools Bond Oversight Committee.

Morin has served for many years as a board member for the Folsom-El Dorado Joint Powers Authority, the Sacramento Regional Transit District and the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission.

A Meteorology graduate of Oregon State University, Morin works for the National Weather Service as a senior hydrologist. He also co-owns and operates Susie’s Country Oaks Restaurants in Roseville and Granite Bay. Morin and his wife Kathy moved to Folsom in 1988. They have two grown sons.

Miklos was first elected to the Folsom City Council in 1994, and has served nine terms as mayor and four terms as vice mayor. He is a director of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and the Association of California Cities Aligned with Public Safety. He has also served as chairman of the Local Agency Formation Commission, the Folsom Redevelopment Agency Board, Sacramento Transportation Authority, Folsom-El Dorado County JPA and the Elk Grove El Dorado County Connector JPA, and the Folsom Economic Development Corporation.

Miklos is a licensed California Real Estate Broker who started Bentley Mortgage and Real Estate in 1987. He studied business administration at Los Angeles Pierce College, fire science at Los Angeles Valley College and received his paramedic certification from the UCLA/Harbor Medical Center. He is a retired paramedic/firefighter.
