The city is holding a community meeting Monday, November 8, for customers to learn more and ask questions about the proposed solid waste rate increases.

These proposed rate increases are needed to comply with a new state mandate under SB 1383. The state-mandated programs required by SB 1383 will significantly increase costs, including weekly organic waste collection, community outreach and education, procurement of products made from recycled organic material, enforcement, and more. SB 1383 was signed into California law in 2016 as part of the state’s broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
