Folsom Fire Department Volunteer Services Adds Three New Vehicles to its Fleet

Post Date:10/20/2022 12:28 p.m.

The Folsom Fire Department Volunteer Services added three new vehicles to its fleet to better serve the community and respond to emergencies. The new vehicles are valuable tools that will help the Folsom Fire Department protect life and property while providing best-in-class emergency services for the City of Folsom.

The three new Folsom Fire Department vehicles include:

  • CERT37:  a retired Folsom Fire Department ambulance converted for use as a primary Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) team transport and trailer hauler. CERT37 is used to transport a team of six and has already been used to provide firefighter rehab and set up a first aid station.
  • REHAB37: a 25-foot trailer used for incident command for deployments and firefighter rehab for large incidents.
  • CERTUTV: an all-terrain vehicle designed for medical patient transport in off-highway situations and team transportation.

The vehicles will assist the Folsom Fire Department and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in providing vital community services, including:

  • Emergency response.
  • Medical assistance.
  • Disaster response, including responding to localized flooding and weather-related emergencies.
  • Establishing cooling areas during extreme temperatures.
  • Missing person searches.
  • Firefighter rehab and transportation.

The city purchased the vehicles with funds from state grants, a Sacramento County Transit Occupancy Tax grant, Friends of Folsom CERT 501c3 fundraisers, and the Intel Foundation’s Volunteer Matching Program.

Based on Intel employee volunteer hours, the Intel Foundation makes monetary donations to nonprofits and schools where Intel employees donate their time. Friends of Folsom 501c3 fundraisers received approximately $10,000 from the Intel Foundation earlier this year thanks to employee volunteer hours reported in 2021.
