June is National Homeownership Month, recognizing the benefits of homeownership. Owning a home serves as one of the greatest pathways to economic well-being and generational wealth-building. Homeownership symbolizes and is the centerpiece of the American dream. During the month of June, it is important to not only recognize the power of homeownership but also to recommit to creating opportunities for future homeowners. 

All Americans deserve the opportunity to achieve economic well-being through homeownership. The national housing shortage constrains homeownership opportunities for Americans. Longstanding barriers have stopped underserved communities from achieving this dream and building generational wealth. 

The City of Folsom is committed to making homeownership a reality. By expanding the stock of affordable housing, more families can own a home and through the City's Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, over 75 low-income households have achieved the American dream of homeownership.
