The City of Folsom’s 2035 General Plan and Folsom Plan Area Specific Plan Amendments for Increased Residential Densities

Post Date:07/27/2023 9:42 a.m.

The city has started preparing the Subsequent Environmental Impact Report for the 2035 General Plan and Folsom Plan Area Specific Plan amendments to increase residential densities in the three targeted areas of the city. As the first step, the city has prepared a Notice of Preparation (NOP) and will hold a public scoping meeting on Thursday, August 17, at 6 p.m. via Zoom

Project Overview: In response to State housing requirements, the City of Folsom began a two-part effort to increase housing capacity for multi-family and affordable development in certain areas. By increasing capacity in targeted areas, the city will maintain an adequate supply of land for multi-family housing without rezoning land in established residential neighborhoods.

The purpose of the NOP is to notify agencies, organizations, and individuals that the City of Folsom will be the Lead Agency preparing a Draft Environmental Impact Report for the City of Folsom 2035 General Plan Amendments for Increased Residential Densities (proposed project). The City of Folsom welcomes public input during the NOP review period. The purpose of the scoping process is to solicit public comment regarding the scope and content of the information to be addressed in the EIR. Read the NOP here

Project Location: The Project Planning Area consists of the East Bidwell Mixed-use Corridor, the Glenn and Iron Point transit priority areas, and the Folsom Plan Area.

Virtual scoping meeting: On Thursday, August 17, at 6 p.m., the city encourages residents to attend the virtual public scoping meeting to gather input and comments. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Call In Phone: 1-669-900-6833 (audio only) Webinar ID: 885 5356 9127 and Passcode: 182263.

Comments may also be submitted in writing during the 30-day review period that ends on August 23, 2023 and addressed to:
