In honor of National Zookeeper Week, zookeeper Helen Chu was recognized by Congressman Kevin Kiley for her outstanding contributions toward animal welfare. Helen holds a degree in wildlife, fish, and conservation biology from UC Davis, and a degree in exotic animal training and management from Moorpark College. She has worked for the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary since 2019, and has contributed significantly to the positive reinforcement animal training and behavioral enrichment programs, improving the quality of life of the animals. Her diligent efforts and unique ability to problem solve have helped animals with health challenges participate in veterinary care without undue stress or danger to the animals and staff. Congressman Kiley spoke about Helen’s achievements before the U.S. House of Representatives and stopped by the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary August 7 to thank her in person.
