Thomas Gruneisen joined the City of Folsom in 2022 to direct the much-loved Folsom Public Library.  Thomas has worked in libraries for over a dozen years, serving as a youth librarian, teen librarian, and branch and regional supervisor. Previously employed as a supervisor at U.C. Berkeley’s Department of Information Services, Thomas moved to public libraries after witnessing first-hand the transformational effect they can have on people’s lives.  

He holds a master’s degree in library and information science from San José State University and completed his undergraduate degree in a double major with honors from the University of California at Berkeley.

The father of three children, Thomas thoroughly enjoys reading in his free time and has been chagrined to find that the longer he works in libraries, the longer his list of books to read becomes.
